•Teenagers

Main people who are showed throughout the episode, very important to the narrative as they show their lives and introduced characters who are related or friends with them.

•Family life and relationships

Wills in a family where Johnathan has to take the lead of the family whereas Joyce doesn’t, not stereotypical as she’s also a single mother. Relationships between Nancy and Steve which shows he’s not good for her but she still likes him.

•Mothers

Mikes mum is caring for him and shows she has a lot of power whereas wills mum is the opposite of that where she didn’t notice him missing till the morning after as well as her son doing the cooking in the morning as this isn’t what is stereotypical normally

•Absent fathers

Not many fathers figure apart from mikes but he doesn’t listen to the convocation which shows he doesn’t care. Shows they aren’t important in the story.

•Police

Police aren’t very good as when Joyce brought up the issue, they dismissed her straight away and when they started looking into it, they found out something was wrong. This shows they aren’t very good and lazy as we see hopper being an alcoholic

•Government

The government isn’t good its corrupted as they have made an experiment which is dangerous as well as made will go missing.

Supernatural

Eleven is supernatural with her power of crushing a can and stopping a fan, also the Demogorgon is supernatural as they have to power of opening a locked door and has a connecting with electricity.
